Three generations at one cutting table

In 1960, a tailor's shop opened in Beirut, and the name over the door has not changed since: Makis' Tailor. One cutting table and a wall of cloth have become three generations of the same family — with the same patterns, the same shears, and the same conviction: a suit is made for a person, never for a size. Customers who came for their first suit now bring their sons, and sometimes their grandsons. It is the only advertising we have ever trusted.

A real suit is built, not assembled. Inside the jacket sits a hand-shaped canvas of haircloth, which lets the suit take on your posture over the years, the way good shoes take a foot. Buttonholes are finished by hand; collars are felled by hand; trousers are balanced to the way you actually stand. Between cutting and finishing come the fittings, where the suit is pinned, marked and recut on your body until it stops being cloth and starts being yours.

Beirut has always dressed with intent. This is a city of weddings and stages, where an occasion is never just attended — it is dressed for. Tailoring here grew up serving that standard, and it shows in details our customers expect without asking: cloth that behaves in Mediterranean heat, a cut that moves, a finish that photographs. Today the atelier's reach is longer than its street. Finished garments leave Beirut within days: delivered across Lebanon in one to three days, and shipped worldwide by tracked courier. The distances have grown since 1960. The promise on the door has not.
